Dear Members of Grace,
There’s little doubt that you’ve all heard that earlier this week our Governor further loosened the pandemic restrictions that include permission to resume in-person worship services. No doubt you all asked the question, “When will Grace resume?”
The short answer to that question is “Not for at least several more weeks.” It’s not because we don’t miss our worship services or fail to recognize how important they are for us as individuals and as a community. The reality is permission to reengage in public worship doesn’t mean that it is completely safe to do so or that it would resemble our typical pre-pandemic services. The national, statewide and local health officials provided a very lengthy list of qualifications, restrictions and guidelines for public worship services that are far too involved to list in this letter. Suffice to say your Pastor, Congregation Council, and those involved in planning and leading worship have begun discussions about when and how we will resume worshiping together again. For now, we don’t have a date in mind but we will resume just as soon as we feel we can ensure the safety and protection of you all and those if us who lead worship.
I realize this letter doesn’t provide the clarity you might desire, so I have scheduled a meeting on Zoom for this Monday, June 1 at 7:00 pm to offer further details and answer your questions about when we might be together again in worship, and to also give us an opportunity to spend a little time together as a community.
I hope you’ll join us on Monday!
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Steve
